Deep Roots (4/21/21)

Writer: Stanley GodwinStanley Godwin

Good Morning,

I pray all is well with you this morning.

Around here Spring chores are in full swing. I planted a few vegetables in my two raised beds and have been wondering how often I need to water them.

I read that if you stretch out the watering (as in not every day) the plants will grow deeper roots, but if you water every day they only grow shallow.

Deep roots mean long term health, able to withstand the heat of the sun and the occasional stretch of drought.

That is how the Lord helps us grow strong, by sometime withholding the “daily” showers of blessings so our roots of faith will grow deeper.

If every day was perfect and problems were practically none existent, then our roots of faith would certainly be shallow and surviving the major upsets would be impossible.

Psalm 1:3 KJVS “And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.”

God does water us through our times of adversity. Ask any Christian who has been through a very traumatic event and they will tell you how close they felt to God during that time.

Plant yourself in His a Word and watch the fruit of the Holy Spirit grow in your life.

Peace and Grace,

Pastor Stanley Godwin
