Plant Intentionally..(4/29/21)

Writer: Stanley GodwinStanley Godwin

Recently we spent some time and much effort to remove an ever spreading crop of spiderwort plants. They look nice when they bloom, but now they are popping up everywhere.

Here’s the interesting part… we brought them into the garden…we planted this first few, intentionally. If we had only known how they would spread we would have never done it. We have other plants, such as a ground cover, that is also spreading out of it intended area.

Like us, how many times have you said..”I wish I had never planted that here!”.

I’m not talking about random weeds that the wind blew in or a bird helped deposit. I’m talking something intentionally planted that …worked out bad, can’t get rid of it.

Some things in our life are that way. We bring it into our lives, only later to find it has spread, out of control.

Alcohol , drugs (even prescription drugs), pornography… habits that destroy lives always had a beginning, an original “planting” in a persons life. Usually a single planting, in a secret place… but then, but now, it’s out of control!

1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”

The best approach is to always never plant the first bad seed.

The good news is that you don’t have to face this battle alone.

Isaiah 41:10 KJVS “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”

Peace and Grace,

Pastor Stan
