Last week I worked on staining a wooden porch swing. The process of applying stain really is quite easy. Put the stain on the wood a bit heavy with a rag or a brush, then wipe of the excess stain with a clean rag.
My swing project was going quite well, but I got to an area that had streaks in the wood that would not accept the stain. In fact, when I wiped the stain from the wood it appeared white in that area. No matter how many times I applied the stain, nor how long I would let it sit it would still not take the stain.
That is the way it is with us when we are Saved…after God has forgiven us of our sin. No matter how hard we or the devil might try… we just won’t take the stain.
1 John 1:9 KJV “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
The stain of sin penetrates deep, but not so deep that blood of Jesus can’t lift it away!
Ephesians 1:7 KJVS “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;”
Sing it with me…”What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the Blood of Jesus!”
Peace and Grace to you all,
Pastor Stan
